The Chevrolet 3100-Series was renewed with a new designation in 1960 becoming the C/K Series that carried GM's truck line throughout the late-1990's. The C models represented the 2-wheel-drive platform, while the K models identified the 4-wheel-drive examples. The chassis size would now be given a 10, 20, or 30 to designate the ½-ton, ¾-ton, and 1-ton weight classes. Both long and short beds would be available, with both stepside and fleetside varieties. What really set the new C/K trucks apart was the introduction of the drop center ladder-style chassis allowing the cab body to be positioned lower, along with a new independent front suspension. These enhancements finally provided a near car-like ride, a long overdue request by truck owners!
Offered here is a rare 1965 Chevrolet K10 Fleetside Shortbed 4x4 Pickup finished in a factory coded 514AA- Red exterior finish and standard Fawn vinyl bench seat interior! Surviving in a nearly all original fashion from the Pacific Northwest, this original Port Orchard, Washington sourced Chevy was said to have been a park service truck when new. It later made its way to a collector in De Graff, MN after years of storage who would get the truck back into running order having the original 292ci Inline 6-cylinder engine simply resealed due to excellent compression with the head rebuilt with hardened valve seats for modern unleaded gasoline; installing a new gas tank, inline fuel filter, rebuilt the carburetor, replaced the carburetor fuel filter, air cleaner; spark plugs/wires, distributor cap, rotor, condenser; rebuilt alternator, new belts/coolant hoses, and engine fluids.
It would later be allocated to 4-5-6 Chevy Trucks LLC based in Kansas City, MO in 2021 for further recommissioning without major physical restoration for its new St. Louis, MO owner. They would remove the windows and trim components to complete a faux patina weathered paint appearance with a satin clearcoat to preserve it. The body would receive new door weather stripping, window felts, and cowl seal; new front windshield, side vent glass, and rear glass seals; new door sill plates, interior pedal pads, shifter boots, floor mat, and door handles & window cranks. This also included rewiring much the cab and engine compartment electrical components to ensure everything was in working order, flushing/pressure testing the radiator, going through the braking system with new wheel cylinders, shoes/hardware, e-brake cables, and brake hoses; refurbishing the wheels and installing new BF Goodrich All-Terrain T/A radial tires (including spare). The entire wood bed would be rebuilt with fresh wood and all new mounting hardware.
Once back in St. Louis, it would receive further attention underneath to improve the ride and suspension. Brand new leaf springs provided by St. Louis Spring were installed by Inland Truck Parts & Service along with a new front driveshaft, u-joints, and resealed both front & rear axles and transfer case along with fresh fluid. New shocks at all four corners also with all new mounting hardware during the process. It makes for a super tight, road-going truck that runs, stops, and steers as good as new!
