This beautifully restored 1963 Buick Riviera hardtop comes finished in factory correct Arctic White with optional Black vinyl interior. Power comes from a fully rebuilt 401ci Nailhead V8-4bbl engine producing 325 horsepower mated to an upgraded 3-speed Super Turbine 400 automatic transmission. The engine received a complete tear-down with the block machined .030 over, new pistons and rings added, all new seals & gaskets installed, and fresh exhaust in June 2010. The original heads, intake, exhaust manifolds, Rochester Quadrajet carburetor were all retained. It was completely detailed before going back into the car, with the entire process documented with receipts and photographs.
This paint was refinished about 20 years ago and still looks very presentable today with some noted touch-ups around the headlamps and entry areas. Additional options on this car include power steering, power brakes, power driver seat, power windows, and concealed AM/FM radio hidden in the glove box. This professionally installed system is exceptional and includes an amplified subwoofer box in the trunk, enhanced speakers inside, CD changer, and Dynamat lining throughout the entire trunk. The sound quality is fantastic and is equivalent to modern cars of today!
This Riviera retains its full-sized spare tire, jack, and lug wrench. According to the original dealer plaque still affixed to the rear trunk lid, this car began life in Dallas, TX from Strayhorn-Lace Buick. We originally located this car out of Maryland in 2006 and had displayed the car in our showroom with only 58,590 miles showing on the odometer at that time. It was later sold to a Buick enthusiast in Iowa in August 2010 who has beautifully maintained and kept it ever since. He even had an insulated, climate-controlled garage built for it in 2011. During his 12 years of enjoyment, the odometer now reads 69,702 miles. Although this could certainly be actual mileage based on the car's current condition, the true mileage is unknown.
While in his care, the following major improvements were completed, not to mention consistent annual oil and fluid changes; new interior carpet & front seat upholstery in 2011, rebuilt brakes with new brake booster in 2012 along with new front seals/repacked wheel bearings, new water pump & heater core in 2014, new American Classic 1-5/8” radial whitewall tires and a new rear bumper in 2017; new 3-row radiator, hoses, clutch fan, & thermostat in 2019, and later fitted with all new air conditioning components in August 2020 to include new compressor, drier/accumulator, expansion valve, R134a refrigerant, and drive belts. It continues to perform wonderfully!
These cars are growing in popularity, and the 1963 model is recognized as the one to own! Out of the box it was lighter and more powerful than its Thunderbird competitor and considered by many as a better performer and more roadworthy vehicle! The design alone was very impressive for the day! It will come with additional spares to include 2 oil filters, extra air filter, new rear brake shoes, and four replacement power window motors. Please feel free to call with any questions! This car will get plenty of attention!
