Produced for only four years after the very successful XK120 series, the newly revised XK140 series offered buyers the same high-output DOHC straight 6 cylinder power plant, but now with better brakes, rack and pinion steering, improved suspension, and more interior cabin space for taller drivers!
Offered here is an incredibly sharp, numbers matching 1956 Jaguar XK140 Open-Two-Seater! Finished in gorgeous Indigo Blue over Red Leather interior, this exceptionally well restored roadster was fitted with Jaguar's M-equipment package and C-Type performance option during restoration. The M-option (or Modified) included the special equipment engine carried over from the XK120 with true dual exhaust system, wire wheels, along with heavier torsion bar suspension and Lucas fog lamps! A new C-type performance option for the XK140 included a high compression head with larger exhaust valves with inlet and exhaust porting mated to the factory 3442cc DOHC Straight 6 giving the engine 20 additional horsepower for a total of 210hp! Cars equipped with both options are commonly referred to as MC-equipped.
Additional appointments on this 1956 XK140 Roadster include Tan soft top with matching side curtains, 4-speed manual gearbox with factory Laycock de Normanville overdrive, Smiths instrumentation, telescopic steering column, dual fender-mounted rearview mirrors, 60-spoke 16” chrome wire wheels, and Firestone Deluxe Champion 6.00-16 wide whitewall tires!

This Jaguar is one of 1,134 Open-Two-Seater examples that delivered in left-hand-drive form from the factory for 1956. It would be treated to a full comprehensive, concours level restoration completed in 2003 with results that would earn 99/100 points earning three 1st Place honors at multiple JCNA judging events! It had been driven sparingly with the former of 12 years, so upon arrival to the St. Louis Car Museum in October 2021, the car received a fresh servicing. This included new spark plugs and carburetor tune up, new coolant & radiator cap, crankshaft dampener, new engine & transmission mounts, new exhaust mounts & flange gaskets, new front control arm bushings, ball joint boots, upgraded poly sway bar bushings, new engine oil/filter, drained & filled transmission with new fluid, lubed all chassis components, along with a fresh battery & hold down.
This wonderful Jaguar still presents exceptionally well for an older restoration and will make for a terrific rally car or tourer for the driver enthusiast! Formerly owned by Hollywood legends Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones! It continues to run and drive with perfect ease and is surprisingly quick for a car of its generation!! Complete with matching spare, jack, oiling can, and storage key. Please call with any questions or to make an appointment to inspect the car in person.
