Offered here is a 1951 American LaFrance Series 700 triple combination pumper! This unit sold new to Bay City, Michigan Fire Department and stayed stored and protected in the area throughout its entire life! It was used briefly as a fire reserve truck, before heading into the private collection of Jim Dobson, who coincidentally was the founder of the Bay City Antique Toy & Fire Truck Museum which remains open to the public to this day! This American LaFrance remains exceptionally original without any major restoration, and we are very proud to have it on display here in St. Louis, Missouri!
Powered by its original 527ci V12 gasoline engine mated to a 4-speed manual transmission, it was recently treated to a complete fuel delivery service to start and run confidently once again. This included dropping the fuel tank for a flush, cleaning, and sealing; then reinstalled with new electric fuel pump to provide fresh fuel to twin, rebuilt Zenith carburetors. The engine oil and filter were replaced, along with cleaning up some wiring and adjusting the brakes. We have had the privilege to enjoy this wonderfully preserved piece of history around our facility and find the operation to be surprisingly driver friendly compared to many other fire apparatuses we've represented in the past!
Additional features include its original fire-fighting equipment: extension latter, dual hard section hose extensions, two rolls of soft fire hose, two separate some diameter hose reels with auxiliary onboard water tank, working Beacon-Ray red light, working B&M Siro-Drift siren, dual outside mirrors, added aftermarket turn signals, multiple spotlights, and original pumper controls and instrumentation. Also included with the sale with be the axe, pike pole, portable extinguisher, hose reel crank handle, hose link connector, and two fire coats. This is a stellar opportunity for enthusiast collectors of unique cab-forward fire trucks from American LaFrance, or fire fighting equipment in general! Please feel free to call about adding this example to your collection and shipping options to get it home! Thanks for looking!
