As each new generation was improved fromthe last, it continued to offer more and more to buyers as theprestigious luxury sports car from England! This included improvedbrakes, better suspension, superior interior comfort, moresignificant cooling, and bigger displacement engines! The Series IIcame about in 1968 with wrap around rear bumper, larger repositionturn signals & tail lights, larger grill opening with twin electriccooling fans for better cooling, open headlamps, redesigned toggleswitches on the dash, as well as twin Strombergs replacing thetriple SU's under the hood. Air conditioning and power steeringwere factory options. Production on the Series II carried throughto early 1971 with all models totaling 18,809 units. Of those, only4,855 were Fixed Head Coupes making them the rarest to find forcollectors today! We are very pleased to have this 1970 Jaguar XKECoupe finished in factory code correct Dark Green over Suede GreenLeather interior! Powered by it all original, number's matchingdrivetrain featuring the 4.2L Inline 6 DOHC engine and 4-speedfully synchromesh manual transmission! Options include factory airconditioning, power steering, wood steering wheel, 72-spoke chromewire spoke wheels wrapped in 185R15 radial redline tires, dualoutside mirrors, rear defrost, upgraded Kenwood AM/FM/Cassetteradio in stock location, and chrome exhaust tips! Included withthis beautiful Jaguar will be a complete history from new! It wasbuilt June 8th, 1970 and dispatched from England October 7th, 1970.Having sold new in May 1971 from Autosport Motors in Madison, MO toClark & Corrine Greife, it remains titled today as a 1971 modelyear example today. The Greife's retained ownership through April1975 with their service and maintenance history clearly logged inthe original Passport to Service Booklet by Jaguar service centers.Obviously driven on a regular basis, the second owners tookpossession with 41,672 miles through Kelley Pontiac, Inc. based inColumbia, MO. It would trade hands again in 1976 bringing thisE-type Coupe to the St. Louis area permanently, carefullymaintained by only a few more owners, with the most recent havingit for the past 17 years! During that timeframe, this Jaguar wasincrementally restored in a careful manner beginning with a baremetal repaint of the exterior by Jaguar specialist GarciaRestorations in April 2006, along with some minor re-chroming ofselect components, new power steering rack, and new interior seatfoams & leather covers. The original engine & headwere next with acomplete overhaul by renowned service center Erwin Schwarz Ltd inJune 2007 where is was fully balanced and blueprinted internally.The odometer reading at this time was 82,971 miles. Erwin SchwarzLtd would also be selected in December 2010 to rebuild the originalgearbox at 86,664 miles with all new synchro rings, cluster gear,all bearings, seals, etc. The clutch kit installed at 79,596 mileswas retained. The entire air conditioning system was restored withnew compressor, receiver drier, lines, seals, and blower motor inSeptember 2011. As the enjoyment of the splendid road going examplewas improved, power and performance would come next. Ordered directfrom England, a full set of polished European SU Triple Carburetorswith polished intake would be ordered and installed to increasehorsepower and torque! This work was carried out by Erwin Schwarzalong with the addition of Pertronix ignition! You will be hardpressed to find a better starting, running, and driving Jaguar!Brand new chrome wire wheels & redline tires were installed in2013, and an upgraded aluminum radiator installed in 2015! Allservice records are included from new, along with original owner'smanual, service booklet, maintenance & lubrication chart, andHeritage Trust Certificate! This car has been stored in ourclimate-controlled facility for the past owner since approximately2012. It was last shown in a local JCNA event in October 2016scoring 997.9 points in Driven Class.
