In 1961, the Chevrolet introduced the Impala SS or Super Sport tothe market. The new SS badging would soon become Chevrolet'ssignature of performance on many of its most popular models. In1965, Chevrolet had redesigned the Impala and the new, fourthgeneration designs were used with minimal updating through 1970.Chevrolet supplied the Impalas with a variety of engine optionsthat ranged from a six-cylinder to the powerful big block V-8s. Forthe 1967 model year, the standard Impala Series was supplied in sixbody styles while the Impala Super Sport Series consisted of onlytwo body styles: a two-door hardtop, coupe as well as a sporty,convertible. Approximately 67,000 SS coupes were built while only9,545 SS convertibles were built. The 1967 Impala SS Convertibleshad a factory base price of approximately 3,600.00. This 1967Chevrolet Impala Super Sport convertible was built and sold new inSt. Louis. It was purchased by the current owner from the originalowner in about 1983. It today's marketplace, it is difficult tofind a desirable, 1960s era convertible that has had only twoowners from new and has resided in the same city for all of itslife. This car is being sold with a Missouri title with a matchingVIN number of 168677S161633, which indicates that it is a trueSuper Sport and built in February of 1967. The mileage is justunder 99,000 from new. As expected from a two-owner car, this SuperSport Impala Convertible is in excellent, overall condition. Thecurrent and second owner has restored this vehicle as needed duringhis 34 years of ownership. Today, this car is ready to use andenjoy. The body appears to be extremely clean and straight. All ofthe bodylines are crisp and clear. The doors, hood and trunk lidfit the body with even gaps and margins. The body panels lookstraight from front to rear, top to bottom. The car has beenrecently repainted in the original color of Bolero Red. The paintis in excellent overall condition with an even and consistent glossacross all of the body panels. On the inside, the Parchment Whiteinterior is mostly original and shows extremely well. The seats arefirm and the upholstery is clean but not perfect. The front seatshave been recovered in a proper, matching material. The rear seatassembly and the door panels appear to be original and in verygood, original condition. The front and rear seats match extremelywell. The carpets have been recently replaced and the car isequipped with factory correct seat belts. This Impala SS isequipped with the desirable bucket seats and center console. Thedashboard assembly is clean and retains all of its original gaugesand controls. All of the original gauges work properly with theexception of the clock. The current owner has installedaftermarket, oil and temperature gauges for safety purposes. Thecar retains its original AM radio together with a rear mount manualantenna and a rear seat speaker. The factory installed, manualtinted windows are clean and operate smoothly. The convertible topassembly has been recently restored. All of the hydraulics havebeen either rebuilt or replaced as needed. The white top materialis nearly new and shows hardly any wear. The top assembly has aglass rear window as well as a matching top boot. Top boot does notfit well and will need some attention to fit properly. Under thehood, this Impala SS has its original 327 cubic inch/275 horsepowerV-8 engine. The current owner has recently rebuilt the engine. Itis extremely clean and recently detailed with proper decals andlabels throughout. The engine runs extremely well. It starts easilyand idles well. The V-8 has a throaty and solid sound as it exitsthrough the dual exhaust. The automatic, Powerglide transmissionshifts through the gears smoothly and makes the car easy todrive. Other original factory options include power brakes,power steering and the desirable factory air conditioning, whichall function properly. The car has been converted to use R134Freon. This is a great example of a desirable, fourth generationImpala Super Sport Convertible.
