With a countrywide recession looming, Packard Motor Car Company was looking to keep a large portion of its luxury buyers in their showrooms for 1937. This led to the introduction of the new Model 115C that year fitted with a 6-cylinder engine. While the rest of their Senior line-up continued to be produced by skilled craftsmen in limited quantities, it was fair to say Packard entered a mass production mode for supplying these popular, new115C sedans. The larger Super Eight models were still custom crafted and had a reduction of the chassis size to a sportier134", providing a further improved ride. This was possibly with some new elements for these exclusive, luxury vehicles for 1937that would include the introduction of a fully independent Safe-T-Flex front suspension and hydraulic brakes. These two improvements, along with slightly higher compression engines with Stromberg carburetion for added horsepower, make for one of the most sought-after Packard touring models among driver enthusiasts today!
